The Demise of a Diabolical Prime Minister & his Sidekick Rachel from Accounts!

This morning’s resignation by Keir Starmer was the best news I’ve heard in a very long while. To be honest I’m still dumfounded how the most unprimeministerly premier in the history of the United Kingdom managed to last two years in the job. But at last he’s realised his time bumbling around Westminster making gaff after gaff is over and it’s time for him to shuffle off the stage, and for me it’s ‘double bubble’ day since his inept Chancellor will be booted out of next door very soon.

I said if Rachel Reeves lasted two years in her job of trying to run the UK’s finances, I’d be handing my OBE back in protest at what was happening to the country. Thankfully I’ll be keeping my treasured medal, although what comes next is a huge concern. From what I have seen of Andy Burnham he’s at least more interesting a personality than Keir, and he’s managed to be a whole lot more popular in Manchester as that city’s mayor than Labour’s catastrophic Khan has been in London.

But that’s where the change is one for the good in my book. Andy Burnham is more of a socialist than Starmer, a huge friend of the trade union movement, and not a leader who is likely to understand business any more than his predecessor. In fact, with the left-wing baggage he brings with him into government things are unlikely to get better for the economy and the business community.

If we learned anything from the last Tory Government it has to be that unelected prime ministers don’t have the public’s permission to inherit power. The rules might allow it in theory but in practise an unelected leader has no mandate.

There is only one honourable course of action for the Labour Party and that is to call a General Election and let voters decide who and what they want.
