  1. Do not pay any one hour charge upfront fee when booking
  2. Make sure you book with a real person rather than online
  3. Check tradesperson has DBS clearance
  4. Make sure the company are not franchising or outsourcing the job to illegal, unqualified foreign labour.
  5. Use a company with genuine reviews
  6. Make sure you are provided with the name, photo and vehicle registration of tradesmen before arriving
  7. Make sure tradespeople have company id, qualified, company uniform and a liveried van.
  8. Ensure companies have an authentic address & land telephone
  9. Check the company rates before commencing any work
  10. Obtain written quotes/estimates for larger work
  11. Ensure the company and tradesman are fully insured
  12. Make sure company is Gas Safety Registered
  13. Make sure company has NICEIC for electrical work
  1. Always get an invoice. Make sure the invoice shows a full breakdown of labour, materials, charges and costs.
